Kathmandu – Lumbini – Sravasti – Kushinagar – Vaishali – Patna – Rajgir – Nalanda – Bodhgaya – Sarnath – Varanasi – Agra – Delhi
In Southern regions of Nepal, across Bihar and into the east of Uttar Pradesh are the lands where the Buddha was born, lived, walked, meditated, fasted, attained enlightenment, preached and ultimately attained Paranirvana. Our walking with Buddha tours are designed for you you to visit some or all of the relevent sites connected to the Buddhas life.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Kathmandu Arrival
On your arrival at Kathmandu, Tribhuvan Airport, you will be met by a representative of Temples of Nirvana and taken to your hotel in the Thamel district of Kathmandu.
Day 2 – Swayambhunath Temple – Kathmandu Durbar Square
This will be the first of your sightseeing days in Kathmandu. In the morning we will head for Swayambhunath (Monkey) Temple. Swayambhunath is a UNESCO, World Heritage and one of the must see sights of the Valley. We will walk the 365 steps up to the Stupa. There is much to see, not least the three large Buddha statues of Shakyamuni Buddha, Chenrezig and Guru Rinpoche. in the park to the rear. In the afternoon we visit the Durbar square in Kathmandu
Day 3 – Kopan Monastery – Bouddhanath Stupa – Pashupatinath Temple
Our second sightseeing day in Kathmandu starts at Kopan Monastery perched majestically overlooking the Kathmandu Valley. Kopan is a little haven of serenity amongst the chaos of the Valley. We will then head for Bouddhanath, the Tibetan area of Kathmandu where the mightily impressive Bouddhanath Stupa is situated. The Stupa is the second largest Stupa in the world. In the afternoon we will make our way to Pashupatinath Hindu Temple.
Day 4 – Kathmandu – Lumbini
You will be taken back to Tribhuvan airport where we will take the flight to Lumbini. On arrival, check in to the hotel. Afternoon visit birth place of Lord Buddha. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Lumbini.
Day 5 – Lumbini – Sravasti
Morning drive to Sravasti. Upon arrival at Sravasti transfer to hotel and proceed for lunch. After lunch visit Jetvanaram and Angulimal Caves. Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 6 – Saravasti – Kushinagar
Breakfast at hotel then drive to Kushinagar. Arrival Kushinagar proceed for lunch in hotel, Afternoon proceed to visit Mahaparinirvana temple and Ramabha Stupa (Cremation centre). Check-in hotel. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 7 – Kushinagar – Vaishali – Patna
Breakfast at hotel then drive to Patna (280 kms, 07 hrs) with pack lunch, enroute visit Vaishali. Arrival Patna, check-in hotel, dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 8 – Patna – Rajgir – Nalanda – Bodhgaya
Breakfast at hotel then drive to Nalanda (85 kms), Visit ruins of ancient university. Lunch will be served at Nalanda tourist cafeteria. After lunch drive to Rajgir (15 kms), visit Gridhkuta Peak, Venuvanaram and Bimbisara Jail. Drive to Bodhgaya. Arrival Bodh Gaya (65 kms), transfer to hotel. Dinner and overnight in a hotel at Bodhgaya.
Day 9 – Bodhgaya
Full day sightseeings at Bodhgaya, visiting places like Mahabodhi Temple, Sujata Village, Niranajana River. All meals and overnight at hotel.
Day 10 – Bodhgaya – Sarnath – Varanasi
Breakfast at hotel then drive to Varanasi (250 kms). On arrival check in to the hotel and then proceed to Sarnath (14 kms), Visit Dhamekha Stupa and Deer Park. Back to Varanasi. Check-in hotel, Dinner and overnight in a hotel at Varanasi.
Bodhgaya
Day 11 – Varanasi – Agra
Early morning boat ride on the holy river Ganges. Then back to hotel for breakfast. After that proceed to visit Varanasi City, Temple, Shopping in Varanasi for silk stuff’s. Late afternoon transfer to Varanasi Railway Station to catch the train for Agra with packed dinner. Overnight in Train.
Day 12 – Arrive Agra
Arrive Agra early morning. Met and transfer to hotel. After wash n change and breakfast will proceed for sightseeing of Agra visit one of the world’s most popular monument – Taj Mahal (it is closed on every Friday) built by Mughal Emperor Shah- Jehan for his Empress Mumtaj Mahal. The construction believed to have taken 22 years to complete with over 20,000 craftmen working round the clock. Back hotel for Lunch. Now proceed for sightseeing tour of magnificent Agra Fort- built at the bank of Yamuna river, is situated in the center of the town. Various styles of the architecture are evident within the fort & demonstrate the love of Mughal Emperors towards building beautiful monuments. Evening free for shopping. Back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 13 – Agra – Delhi Departure
Breakfast at hotel then drive to Delhi. On arrival Delhi, transfer to a local restaurant for lunch. After lunch city tour of Delhi, visiting places like India Gate, drive pass Parliament building, President House. Evening proceed for dinner at a local restaurant. After dinner transfer to IGI airport to catch flight for onward Journey.
Cost of the Trip
The exact price of your trip depends on the date of travel and the number of travellers. We will quote you a price based on two people traveling together and sharing a twin/double room at a standard hotel in Kathmandu and in India. If you require a single room or superior or deluxe accommodation please let us know.
